Introducing a significant other to your parents tends to be a nerve-wracking endeavour. Will your parents approve of your choice of partner? Will your boyfriend be put off by your family’s individual quirks? Will you immediately revert back to your teenage self, insistent that you don’t care what your parents think, even though you clearly do?

Now imagine that challenge magnified by the fact that your parents are royals. That can’t be an easy feat.

Oh, and chuck in that you, too, are a royal, and so your first public appearance with your boyfriend will be photographed and written about. Hard times.

But it seems that Lady Louise Windsor has done it all with grace. The 22-year-old daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, brought along her boyfriend, Felix da Silva-Clamp, for a trip to watch the Inala musical at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh. We imagine this kind of double-date must mean that the ‘meet the parents’ moment went swimmingly.

The outing came just days after Felix was spotted showing support for girlfriend Louise as she competed (and placed fourth in the Novice Pony class) in the Glebe Estate Carriage Driving Trials. Earlier this summer, Felix was also in attendance when Lady Louise received the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award from her father at a reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, and at her graduation ceremony where she received a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and International Relations.

The couple first met while they were both students at the University of St Andrews and their relationship began when they were both cast in a student play in 2024 – meaning we imagine this trip to the theatre will have been especially sentimental for the pair. The play Louise and Felix performed in was reportedly a murder mystery called Dragon Fever. Sounds fun!

Both Louise and Felix had part-time jobs while studying, with Louise spending a summer in 2022 working in a garden centre, while the Daily Express reported that Felix took on a job at an ice cream parlour. After graduating, Louise has revealed she plans to take a gap year packed with volunteering and travel before figuring out her career long-term. We imagine Felix will be right there with her.

In a sweet royal connection, the couple met at the same place where the Prince and Princess of Wales fell in love more than 20 years ago – St Andrews. Could this turn out to be the starting spot for another royal marriage? We’ll have to wait and see. No pressure, Lady Louise.

In photographs from the family outing to the theatre, Felix was seen right by Lady Louise’s side as they chatted with the cast backstage. On the production’s Instagram page, cast and crew wrote: ‘It was incredibly special to welcome the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, a full-circle moment, 12 years after our world premiere here in Edinburgh, and after performing for the Prince and Princess of Wales in 2014 and Prince Harry in 2019, we’re now sharing INALA with another generation of the Royal Family.’

Video shows the Royals and Felix smiling and even partaking in a show of jazz hands, so it looks like they had a great time. We’d confidently say he’s a fully-fledged member of the family now – and not just because the production’s Instagram page referred to Felix and Lady Louise as the Duke and Duchess’s ‘children’.
