It was a family affair heading into last weekend, as two of our favourite royals, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh and her niece, Zara Tindall enjoyed a day out together. The pair united at a shared favourite event, and were snapped smiling together as they watched a popular royal sport - horse-racing.
On Friday (11 September), Sophie and Zara joined forces at the Cornbury House Horse Trials, which took place from 9 to 12 September. The pair are both fans of horses - as are the majority of the Royal Family - especially given Zara's professional background as a competing equestrian. Her aunt Sophie even came to support Zara while she was competing at the same event last year, while Sophie is often invited present awards. Both are regular attendees of Royal Ascot each summer, so horse-racing is clearly something they both love. See image on slide 6 below:
This day, however, was a mainly social occasion, with the duo dressed in autumnal hues to watch the action. For the occasion, Sophie wore an A-line midi skirt with a crisp white shirt and short brown jacket, plus a pair of suede boots. Meanwhile, Zara opted for double denim in a pair of dark blue jeans, paired with a shirt and short coat.
Last month, Zara won an impressive championship the day her mum, Princess Anne, celebrated her 76th birthday. Zara was competing at the Hartpury International Horse Trials and British Championships and rode 17-year-old horse Class Affair to become the British open champion. Zara followed in her mum, Princess Anne's footsteps who was also a accomplished equestrian.
Zara and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh weren't the only royals attending the event the Cornbury House Horse Trials over the weekend. Princess Beatrice was also in attendance, and was snapped in the grounds alongside her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi (slide 3 above). Country chic was definitely the dress code for the event, with Edoardo even donning a classic flat cap for the event.
