You may have heard that burgundy is set to be the colour of autumn, however, the Princess of Wales has thrown that into chaos by pitching a new shade for the season; bottle green. The Princess stepped out wearing the colour in Yorkshire, where she made a surprise appearance for a very good cause.
The Prince and Princess of Wales travelled to the North East on Tuesday (29 September) to celebrate and encourage Sir Kevin Sinfield, who is completing the 7 in 7 Challenge. The challenge was inspired by former rugby league star Rob Burrow (and his iconic number 7 shirt) and involves completing an ultra marathon every day for seven days in a row. The aim is to raise money and awareness around motor neurone disease.
For the occasion, the Princess of Wales chose a bottle green blazer by Ralph Lauren which, although not in stock anymore as it's from a previous collection, retailed at more than £3000.
Luckily, we've found a version on the high street which is also double-breasted with the same contrasting tortoise shell buttons, but in a milder green. It's only £28 in the sale - although sizes are beginning to sell out!
If you're looking for something in the same bold green as Kate, this Karen Millen blazer is a great choice - and we love the satin details on the lapel and pockets. The blazer is also currently reduced by 40% from £229 to £137.40:
In an official post, the Prince and Princess of Wales wished 'good luck to Kevin Sinfield and everyone taking part in this year’s 7 in 7 challenge,' saying it had been 'an honour to meet with families in Wakefield today who are part of that community, and supported by the MND Association.' Since launching in 2020, the 7 in 7 challenge has raised over £11 million, which Prince and Princess called a 'remarkable achievement from all involved.'
The royals also met with some young rugby fans alongside their coaches and community leaders, who were working on the Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Rugby League Development Plan. They joined the group at AMT Headingley Stadium to find out more about the difference being made through sport.
