The Princess of Wales regularly rewears various pieces from her wardrobe, but there are a select few which are particular favourites, and she's seen in them time and time again. The earrings she wore to her latest engagement this week are one example, but they also carry sentimental significance with a link to her daughter, Princess Charlotte.
On Tuesday (29 September) the Princess of Wales made a surprise appearance in Yorkshire to wish Sir Kevin Sinfield luck on day three of his '7 in 7 Challenge' - completing an ultra marathon every day for 7 days. For the occasion, Kate wore a bottle green blazer over a black top and wide leg trousers, accessorising with a pair of striking diamond earrings.
Kate chose her Mappin & Webb Empress earrings, which she's worn multiple times over the past decade, but they made their first debut for a very special and moving family occasion - Princess Charlotte's christening. Back in 2015, the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined other members of the Royal Family at the Church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham Estate, for their second child's christening. It took place on 5 July when Princess Charlotte was just two months old.
This week for the same occasion, Princess of Wales also re-wore another staple - her green, double-breasted blazer. Kate wore the same Ralph Lauren jacket for another sports-related event back in August. The Princess of Wales was visiting Team Wales during the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, this time pairing the jacket with a Breton striped top and pleated white skirt.
In a post, the Prince and Princess wished 'good luck to Kevin Sinfield and everyone taking part in this year’s 7 in 7 challenge' which was inspired by former rugby league player Rob Burrow and his iconic number 7 shirt. The event raises funds and awareness around motor neurone disease and the royals said it had been 'an honour to meet with families in Wakefield today who are part of that community, and supported by the MND Association.'
The 7 in 7 Challenge has raised over £11 million since it began in 2020, which the Prince William and Kate called 'a remarkable achievement'.
