If you're anything like us, you've been watching Celebrity Traitors religiously each week, and tuning in to see not just what antics the traitors have been up to, but also what host Claudia Winkleman is wearing for the evening's episode. Whether she meant to mirror Claudia or not, one of Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh's latest outfits looks like it could have been hand-picked by Claudia herself.
This week, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are on an official visit to Finland. The couple arrived in the capital on Monday (26 October) and were shown around Helsinki City Hall by Mayor Daniel Sazonov and his wife Anita Westerholm. For the occasion, the Duchess chose a check two-piece ensemble, with a single-breasted button-up jacket and pleated midi skirt.
Sophie's skirt in particular looks remarkably like the kilt-style skirts favoured by Traitors host Claudia, which she wears to stomp around the grounds of the Scottish castle.
Sophie's stylish look is a houndstooth outfit by Gabriela Hearst. The designer 'Thereza houndstooth wool and silk-blend blazer' will set you back £1,560, while the 'Wesley pleated houndstooth wool and cashmere-blend twill midi skirt' is £1250. Luckily, you don't need a spend few thousand pounds to replicate the look yourself, as George at Asda's 'Check Kilt Midi Skirt' is a double for just £18. But you'll have to be quick, as sizes are selling out already!
This Albaray version is another good double, but is also selling out fast:
If you can't get your hands on either of the above, the Monsoon version in navy is well-stocked at M&S (at time of writing), and we love the navy shade of blue:
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are on their three-day visit in order to 'recognise the close and longstanding relationship between the UK and Finland,' said Buckingham Palace. 'Their Royal Highnesses will undertake a programme of engagements highlighting the UK’s partnership with Finlandacross a range of sectors, including defence and security, business and innovation, culture and education.'
The visit will involve visiting Oulu, the current European Capital of Culture and learn about 'Finnish expertise in peace mediation, innovation and security,' including a visit with the Finnish Defence Forces at Santahamina Garrison. The trip is the couple's first to the nation in over a decade, with their last visit being in 2015.
