Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh has been giving us no shortage of autumn outfit inspiration over the past few weeks, although her latest piece of covetable clothing was spotted in a rather unexpected location - a Finnish military garrison.
The Duchess of Edinburgh was in Finland this week (Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 October) for an official visit alongside her husband, Prince Edward (King Charles' youngest son). On the final day of her visit, the Duke and Duchess visited a group of Finnish armed forces in Helsinki, Finland - the Santahamina Garrison.
For the visit, the Duchess wore a practical navy waterproof jacket over a camel roll neck jumper, with a warm, wooly hat. The most striking part of her outfit, however, was her pair of wide-leg trousers in check print and warm shade of chestnut. The colours were so well suited to autumn, that she almost camouflaged with the earth and trees around her.
We were so taken with the Duchess' stylish trousers, that we decided to track down a pair for ourselves. The good news is that we spotted a pair at New Look for £33:
A wide-leg style cut is stylish, but also flattering on just about everyone - just choose your leg length carefully. Sophie's pair just graze the ground, but where they sit will depend on on shoes you plan to wear underneath. If you want to keep your own pair for dressed up looks, go for a longer length you can match with heels - but remember you'll trip over the hems in flats!. Otherwise, an ankle-grazing to full length pair will give you the most wear.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh arrived in Helsinki, Finland on Monday (26 October) and were shown around Helsinki City Hall by Mayor Daniel Sazonov and his wife Anita Westerholm. For her first engagement of the visit, Sophie wore a houndstooth co-ord by Gabriela Hearst, before conducting a range of business meetings in a navy suit and animal print shirt. Sophie was photographed signing the City Hall visitors book, before visiting a jewellery factory and meeting Nokia CEO Justin Hotard.
The purpose of the royals' visit was to 'recognise the close and longstanding relationship between the UK and Finland,' according to Buckingham Palace. The engagements on the visit were chosen to highlights key partnerships between the two nations, including defence, business, culture and education, among others.
