Netflix canceled Sweet Magnolias after five seasons in September 2026.
Actress Heather Headley surprised fans by performing on Dancing With the Stars’ Disney Night on November 2.
Heather’s career spans TV, music, film, and Broadway, with roles in The Lion King and Aida.
It’s been a few weeks since Sweet Magnolias got canceled, but Heather Headley just had the most epic career moment.
The actress and former Broadway star appeared on Dancing With the Stars for the November 2 taping as part of the show’s annual Disney Night. She sang “Circle of Life” from The Lion King during the opening number and performed during Tatyana Ali and Connor Wood’s dances with their partners, Jan Ravnik and Rylee Arnold.
Heather shared behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage in a joint Instagram post with Good Morning America.
Fans immediately sounded off on the performance.
“To see @heatherheadley LIVE is such a gift! One of the best to ever do it 🏆,” one person wrote in the comments. “Yesssssss Heather 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” another declared. “My daughter and I literally shouted... Aunt Helen!!!! ❤️,” a different follower added, referencing Heather’s Sweet Magnolias character, Helen Decatur.
Heather’s breakthrough role came when she was cast as Nala in the original Broadway production of The Lion King in 1997. She went on to star in Broadway’s Aida, for which she won the 2000 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
Heather has since released multiple studio albums (she won a 2010 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album for her record Audience of One), appeared in movies and TV, and returned to her theater roots in 2022 for the Encores! production of Into the Woods.
After seeing this, we can only hope that Heather returns to DWTS for another spectacular performance!
