Dancing With the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+.
Actress Julia Stiles performed a jazz routine for the October 13 episode, paying homage to her 2001 film Save the Last Dance.
Fans lost it when they realized her co-star made a surprise appearance during Julia’s performance.
Julia Stiles just brought all the millennial energy to Dancing With the Stars.
Week 5 of season 35 is officially in the books, with the celebrity contestants getting into the spirit of Super Bowl Night on October 13. Julia and her partner Ezra Sosa danced a jazz routine to Jennifer Lopez’s “Jenny from the Block,” which she performed at the 2020 Super Bowl.
As part of the performance, Julia leaned into her 2001 movie Save the Last Dance with a solo that felt reminiscent of the chair scene she performed in the movie. What’s more, fans caught Julia’s co-star, Sean Patrick Thomas, nodding in approval from the sidelines—another nod to the iconic early aughts film.
When fans recognized Sean, they lost it online.
“OH...MY...FREAKING GOSHHH AHHH!!! Seeing Sean in the audience and giving a nod to Save the Last Dance was absolutely EVERYTHING!! I can't believe that its been 25 yrs since the movie came out. I love that iconic movie soo much 🥰❤️❤️,” one person wrote on YouTube. “Aaahhhhhh Patrick Thomas there doing his signature move of approval 😭,” another cried out. “This is just everything! Sean Patrick Thomas was there too, standing behind Ezra!” a different follower added.
Julia clearly impressed the judges' panel, which included guest judge and sports commentator Joe Buck, scoring 33 out of 40.
Sean also expressed his elation at seeing Julia dance.
“Hey, I am Sean Patrick Thomas,” he said in a video on DWTS’ official Instagram. “I am just over the moon to be here to watch Julia do her thing tonight on Dancing With the Stars. We had a great time doing Save the Last Dance back in the day, and she brought it all the way back here tonight.”
We can’t wait to see what Julia does next week!
