Michael was busy touring during most of 2026. And when he appeared on the Not Gonna Lie With Kylie Kelce podcast in January 2026, Michael teased that he has a country music album on the way.

“I love country music, and I have loved country music my whole life,” he explained at the time. “I went to Nashville, I have a producer named Dann Huff… and I have made a love letter to country music. It's old-school, it's not like, modern, it's my interpretation. I have never had an experience that has been better musically. I am so excited to put out this record.”

Michael expressed his excitement for the next stage of his career when he appeared at the 2026 Academy of Country Music Awards in May.

“Country music has a way of making you feel right at home,” he wrote on Instagram. “What an honour it was to be welcomed into such an incredible community and be in a room full of songwriters, dreamers, and good-hearted people. Thank you @ACMawards for inviting me to be part of a truly incredible night. Fingers crossed there will be many more…. Stay tuned y’all 😊.”

Aside from his other work projects, Michael’s wife, Luisana Lopilato, and their four kids (sons Noah and Elias and daughters Vida and Cielo) live in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada—far from The Voice's home base in Los Angeles.

“Arrivederci, Roma❤️,” he wrote on Instagram after an Italian vacation in early August. “To our beautiful friends at Parco dei Principi, thank you for taking such incredible care of us and for always treating our family like your family. We love you guys and we’re so grateful. We leave Rome happy, in love, very full, completely exhausted and already missing it. Until next time Roma.”

Fingers crossed we'll get to see Michael on our screens soon!
