Bethany Joy Lenz stars in Hope Valley: 1874 on Hallmark+.

This is Bethany’s first TV show with Hallmark, although she’s worked with the network since 2014.

The One Tree Hill alum opened up about the impact of her working relationship with Hallmark in an interview with Good Housekeeping.

As Bethany Joy Lenz makes her debut in the When Calls the Heart universe, she’s reflecting on her experience working with Hallmark.

Over the last few weeks, fans have tuned in to see Joy portray Rebecca Clarke in Hope Valley: 1874. The show is the One Tree Hill alum’s first foray into TV for Hallmark—but it isn’t the first time she’s worked with the network. In fact, she’s been collaborating with Hallmark since 2014, when she starred in the holiday film The Christmas Secret. She also played the lead in 2023’s A Biltmore Christmas, which is getting a sequel in 2026.

When Good Housekeeping asked what it’s been like to be part of the Hallmark family for over a decade, Joy explained that her love for the channel goes beyond just starring in its movies and shows.

“I can tell you that I have loved almost all of my experiences doing Hallmark projects,” she shared with us in early March. “I have always found there to be a lot of great collaboration involved—particularly with my co-stars, which is just so fun. And the crews are really hardworking, and the sets usually have just lovely people.”

Joy says her long-standing relationship with Hallmark makes this new chapter in Hope Valley: 1874 especially meaningful.

“I feel really grateful to be able to do a series like this,” she added. “I feel so grateful that I have earned enough trust in my years with this network and have been given a chance for this. It’s so rewarding, and it feels so good to know that you've earned someone's trust. I'm doing my best to uphold it, and I’ve loved every second of it.”

We love this for her, and we can’t wait to see what other projects she has in store with Hallmark!
