ASDA’s iconic Giant Custard Cream Cake is back after a five-year hiatus and, judging by the reaction online, shoppers are absolutely delighted to see it return.

The supersized sweet treat first launched back in 2019 (during peak lockdown, no less) and quickly developed a loyal fanbase. It became one of those products people would actively seek out, thanks to its playful design and unapologetically nostalgic flavour. And now it's finally making a comeback.

Its return also comes at a time when custard cream-flavoured products seem to be everywhere. From giant chocolate bars and stuffed cookies to milkshakes and dessert-inspired treats, the humble biscuit has unexpectedly become one of the biggest flavour trends of the year. Not that we're complaining.

Available now from ASDA bakeries, the Giant Custard Cream Cake costs £11 for 700g and serves up to 16 people. That works out at under 70p per portion, making it a surprisingly affordable option for birthday parties, office celebrations or anyone who simply loves a good custard cream.

The cake features layers of soft, tender sponge sandwiched with a rich and creamy custard-flavoured frosting, before being wrapped in smooth icing. The finishing touch is the decoration, which transforms the entire cake into a giant version of the classic biscuit which is SO much fun.

Custard creams have been a staple of British biscuit tins for generations, and this oversized cake version captures all those familiar flavours in a much more celebratory format.
