Alison Hammond has been nailing it in the fashion stakes recently. Remember her joyful striped co-ord on This Morning (which is now on sale, FYI)? Or how about that floral dress from Boden for the promo shots for the new series of The Great British Bake Off?
Continuing that winning streak, the presenter arrived for the launch event for GBBO in a bold leopard print dress paired with bright pink velvet flats. Her colourful look stood out against the neutrals worn by the rest of the stars on the green carpet – new judge Nigella Lawson re-wore a deep navy jumpsuit by Phase Eight, Paul Hollywood kept things simple in a shirt and jeans, and even Alison's co-host Noel Fielding, who's usually fairly colourful, wore mostly black.
Of course, Alison's attention-grabbing style comes as no surprise. The presenter has long been a fan of statement prints and bright colours, but keeps them feeling wearable by opting for classic shapes and flattering styles.
This particular dress by Scamp & Dude is no exception. While there's a lot going on in terms of colour and pattern – pink and blue leopard print – the cut of the dress is a classic midi tea dress, with a nipped-in waist, small buttons along the front and fluted sleeves. That's a design that suits everyone and flatters every body. A pulled in waist creates an hourglass effect, while fluted sleeves sit in a lovely way on the upper arm.
The specific dress is still available to buy for for £110, but in limited sizes – although, if you can't find your size on the Scamp & Dude website, it's also worth checking Next. We fully expect it to sell out sharpish, so we'd advise shopping with haste.
For the Q&A portion of last night's event, Alison did a quick outfit change, opting for a blue floral dress by Love & Roses. Alas, this dress is sold out already in all sizes. See what we mean about needing to move fast?
The good news is that we now know the latest season of GBBO kicks off on the 22nd of September, which is just a few weeks away. Soon, Alison will be back on our screens, serving up more outfit inspiration... along with plenty of laughs and innuendo-laden commentary on contestants' bakes.
