Hi! I’m Adrianna Freedman, Good Housekeeping’s entertainment editor. I cover everything from series like Law & Order: SVU to competition shows like Dancing With the Stars. In this column, I'll give a monthly rundown of what I’m watching, what’s on my radar, and all of my favorite behind-the-scenes moments.
I don’t know about you, but October felt like the busiest month ever!
I kicked it off at the premiere of NCIS: New York at the Intrepid Museum in Manhattan. The evening included a screening of the first episode and an epic after-party celebrating the city, complete with music, New York-style cheesecake, and pizza. And if that’s not enough, LL Cool J, Scott Caan, and the rest of the cast were on hand for the big night.
I also went to New York Comic-Con for the first time and saw a sneak peek of CBS’s upcoming series Einstein. While I can’t give away all the details from the pilot (you’ll get to see it in early 2027), Criminal Minds alum Matthew Gray Gubler is hilarious in his first role since leaving the franchise. In it, his character, Lewis Einstein, great-grandson of Albert Einstein, avoids jail time by becoming a consultant for police detective Teri London (played by Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Melissa Fumero).
I’ll be sharing more about our chat at NYCC in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here’s the photo he insisted we take in the press room.
A few weeks ago, I ventured upstate with the Today show for Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones’ inaugural Girls Getaway. Between sound baths and nature walks, I spoke to the duo about their favorite fashion and beauty products (Jenna had a lot to say about Aquaphor!). Jenna also shared some details about executive producing the new series Line of Fire, which you can read about here.
Now that we’re all caught up, let’s talk about everything I’m watching and waiting for this month.
What I’m watching
Line of Fire
One of my GH colleagues turned me on to this show—but I was already intrigued because it stars 9-1-1 alum Peter Krause, and Jenna Bush Hager is an executive producer. I’m not always a fan of political dramas, but Line of Fire follows a family who also just happens to work for the U.S. government. Their personal relationships make it compelling to me, and I’ve been watching every week since its September premiere.
Fire Country
I’ve been a fan of Fire Country since its 2022 premiere, and I’ve covered it extensively over the years. I always wonder if it’ll ever get old to me, and the answer is a resounding NOPE! The show follows firefighters in California as they work alongside prison inmates, and I’m always curious what Bode Leone (Max Thieriot) and the folks at Cal Fire and Three Rock are up to. A few new cast members are joining this season, which makes me particularly excited.
Sheriff Country
While I was always a fan of Fire Country, its spinoff, Sheriff Country, took me a little longer to get into. The show portrays a darker side of the fictional town of Edgewater—and it’s already pretty gritty on Fire Country. That said, season two has me hooked. Sheriff Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin) balances her dangerous cases with unexpected family dynamics each week, and I’m dedicated to seeing what’s next.
NCIS: New York
I have long-term plans to watch the entire NCIS franchise (and between the original and its spinoffs, there is a lot to catch up on!). But the nice thing about NCIS: New York is that it stands on its own, and there are only five episodes out right now.
If you’re a longtime LL Cool J fan, you’ll want to see what his character, Sam Hanna, has been up to since his days on NCIS: Los Angeles. But if you’re looking for something to dive straight into, the dynamics between LL, Scott, and the other cast members are enough to keep you seated, too.
What I’m excited to watch next
A Dog’s Perfect Christmas
November 4, Netflix
I’m a Christmas movie lover—I honestly could watch The Santa Clause even in the summer! Add in a sweet pup as a main character, and I’m a fan for life.
This movie follows a family facing a medical crisis during the holidays. As each person works out how to move forward, their loyal dogs are determined to reunite them in time for Christmas. The cast is pretty iconic, with Dennis Quaid, Mary Steenburgen, and Milo Ventimiglia.
BTW, I got the chance to speak with Milo about his role in the film—you can read all about it here.
The Institute Season 2
November 8, MGM+
Was I the only person who didn’t know this show was based on a Stephen King novel? It stars Joe Freeman, Ben Barnes, and Mary-Louise Parker, and season one was a hit. I chatted with Ben (who plays protagonist Tim Jamieson) about the new season. Keep an eye out for that interview—it’ll be dropping in the coming weeks.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
November 20, theaters
The next movie in the Hunger Games franchise is almost here, and I’m curious how closely it will match up to the book of the same name. Joseph Zada will play a young Haymitch Abernathy as the film revisits the Second Quarter Quell. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Woody Harrelson will reprise their roles as Katniss, Peeta, and older Haymitch.
Want more? GH’s books editor, Sarah Vincent, shared her thoughts on the trailer here.
The Great British Baking Show: Holidays
November 23, Netflix
I personally can’t kick off the holidays without watching The Great British Baking Show: Holidays. The specials bring back familiar bakers—like 2020 winner Peter Sawkins, who returned to win the 2024 New Year special—and invite celebrity guests into the tent. Since it’s filmed way in advance, we’ll get to see Prue Leith back on TV after her exit from the franchise. I can’t wait!
Dancing With the Stars Season 35 Finale
November 24, ABC and Disney+
As a newly reinvested fan of Dancing With the Stars, season 35 has been the sleeper show of the fall season. While we don’t know which celeb contestants will make it to the finale, if previous seasons are any indication, the three-hour episode will certainly be epic! My prediction? Amber Glenn or Maura Higgins win it all.
Events I’m keeping an eye on this month
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
November 26, live on NBC
I don’t remember a time when I didn’t watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and this year will be no exception! Since the event is celebrating its 100th anniversary, there are a lot of exciting additions, including brand-new balloons.
GH’s deputy editor Marisa LaScala saw a sneak preview of the spectacle. “There's going to be 100 inflatable elements to celebrate the milestone year,” she said. “That includes new balloons for Snoopy (as Joe Cool), Mickey Mouse (as The Sorcerer's Apprentice), and, my favorite, Billie Brightpaw, a new character invented for this year.”
Macy’s hasn’t announced the full roster of performers yet, but I’m always looking out for the Radio City Rockettes and Santa Claus. They’re there every year!
Hallmark Christmas Experience
Starts November 20 in Kansas City, Missouri
Every year, the Hallmark Channel celebrates Christmas with a holiday-themed convention in Kansas City, Missouri. Thousands attend over four weekends from mid-November to mid-December, and plenty of Hallmark stars also pop by. I’m attending Weekend 3, along with the casts of When Calls the Heart and Hope Valley: 1874.
Well, that’s all from me for this month! If you’re curious to see my adventures in real time, follow me here. Until then, I’ll be sitting on the couch in my ugly holiday sweater and all my favorite (and soon-to-be-favorite) shows.
